The READY Kids' Helmet is available in three sizes: XS (46–50 cm), S (50–53 cm) and M (53–57 cm). It is designed to fit children aged between 1 and 14 years.
The helmet has been tested for compliance with the DIN EN 1078:2012+A1:2012 standard, which sets out the requirements for helmets for pedal cyclists and users of skateboards and roller skates. This means that the READY Kids' Helmet is designed exclusively for children and is only suitable for everyday cycling and roller sports. The children's helmet is not approved for high-speed cycling, downhill runs, dirt jumping or BMX jumps and stunts. But your child can use the READY Kids' Helmet when they're using skateboards and roller skates as well as when they're riding their bike.
Start by measuring the circumference of your child's head. Holding a tape measure about 1 cm above their eyebrows and ears, measure all the way around their head. Check the positioning of the tape measure at the back of their head to ensure you're measuring the widest part.
- Your child's head measurement is between 46 and 50 cm? Order them a size XS helmet.
- Your child's head measurement is between 50 and 53 cm? Order them a size S helmet.
- Your child's head measurement is between 53 and 57 cm? Order them a size M helmet.

If your child's head measures exactly 50 or 53 cm, it's best to order the bigger helmet size. For measurements up to 49.9 and 52.9 cm, we recommend that you still go for the smaller size.

Unlike other helmets, the READY Kids' Helmet covers the back of your child's head to provide protection against injury there too. And so it's naturally bigger than other helmets on the market.
We've also designed the outer shell for our READY Kids' Helmet to be a bit bigger and thicker than standard helmets. This allows some leeway for inevitable growth spurts, ensures ultimate comfort and provides an extra safety boost.
Handy hint: The outer shell sits tight against the most vulnerable areas of your child's head, but there's still space for up to two fingers (depending on the size of your child's head) between the side of their head and their helmet. Remember that the shell doesn't determine the proper fit. That's down to the adjustment system inside the helmet, which should be snug all the way around your child's head.
You can adjust the size for your child by turning the size-adjustment dial on the back of the helmet. Want to check that you've adjusted the size properly for ultimate protection? Ask your child to shake their head before they fasten the chin strap. The helmet should stay where it is without sliding around.
The READY Kids' Helmet should be sitting level on your child's head. It shouldn't be pulled too far back or fall too far forward. Ideally, the front edge of the helmet should sit around 2 cm above your child's eyebrows.
Turn the size-adjustment dial on the back of the helmet until the adjustment system on the inside is nice and tight around your child's head. If the helmet is still too loose even though you've turned the size-adjustment dial as far as it will go, the helmet size is too big for your child.

Open the chin strap clasp and get your child to shake their head. If the helmet stays where it is without sliding about, you know you've adjusted the size properly. Just make sure that the helmet isn't too tight. Your child won't want to wear it if it starts to feel uncomfortable.
Finish up by adjusting the chin strap. You want it to sit snugly without digging in. Ideally, you should be able to slide a finger between the strap and your child's chin.
Yes, and the biggest difference is in size M. The READY Kids' Helmet in size M is designed to fit heads that measure up to 57 cm. Our previous helmet model only went up to 56 cm in this size. This extra centimeter makes the helmet feel even more comfortable and last even longer. Now even children with thick hair can keep wearing the helmet until the maximum age of 14.
The outer shell for the READY Kids' Helmet in all three sizes (XS, S and M) is also thicker than the outer shell for the KIDS' Helmet for added safety.
The adjustment system inside the READY Kids' Helmet fits your child's head better too because it's an oval shape rather than a square. This change in design provides better protection on the sides, increased stability and a snug fit for different head shapes.
Handy hint: Now that it's an oval shape, there's space for up to two fingers between the adjustment system and the side of the outer shell.
The outer shell is made from polycarbonate (PC) that is 100% recycled. The inner shell is made from expanded polystyrene (EPS) that is 50% recycled. The specially developed visor, which acts as a sun and rain shield and protects against injury, is made from expanded polypropylene (EPP).
You should only ever clean the helmet and its components with lukewarm water and a mild soap solution. Aggressive cleaning agents and solvents can corrode the helmet material and compromise its protective effect.
Store the helmet in a cool, dry place where it is protected from daylight. Excessively high temperatures and strong UV radiation can also damage the helmet. Do not store the helmet in places where temperatures of above +40 °C can be reached, e.g. in the sun on the parcel shelf of a car. Likewise, do not place the helmet directly on or next to a heat source such as a stove.
By looking after the helmet and storing it properly, you can stop the material from aging too quickly and ensure that the helmet continues to protect your child throughout the product lifespan.
The bike helmet should only be used for a maximum of three to five years from the specified production date, even if it looks like it's in good condition. The production date can be found on a sticker on the inside of the helmet.
The lifespan of the helmet depends on:
- Use: Strong UV rays and a high degree of wear and tear are just two of the factors that can have a negative impact on the helmet's properties and reduce its lifespan.
- Storage: Store the helmet in a cool, dry place where it isn't exposed to sunlight, doesn't come into contact with aggressive chemicals and isn't subject to mechanical forces such as compression, pressure or tension.
- Cleaning: Only ever clean the helmet and its components with lukewarm water and a mild soap solution. Aggressive cleaning agents and solvents can corrode the helmet material and compromise its protective effect.
- If the helmet is involved in a fall or crash, you have no choice but to replace it.
By looking after the helmet and storing it properly, you can stop the material from aging too quickly and ensure that the helmet continues to protect your child throughout the product lifespan.
Nothing is more important than the safety of your child. Your child should not keep wearing the helmet after a fall or crash – even if you can't see any signs of damage on the helmet and it still looks like it's in good condition.
Every impact reduces the ability of the energy-absorbing material in the helmet shell to absorb further impacts. Even tiny cracks and other damage you can't see on the outside can reduce the protective function of the helmet.

Children are smaller than adults and sit in a lower position on a bike, so it's important that they are as visible as possible for other road users for their own safety.
The READY Helmet Light has been carefully designed to fit into the recess at the top on the back of the helmet. This is the highest possible position to ensure maximum visibility when it is attached to the helmet.
Additional visibility is provided all the way around the helmet thanks to all the reflective features (straps, logos and detailing on the size-adjustment dial).
The design of the READY Kids' Helmet is flexible, providing the option for the light to be added as an extra accessory to suit the individual child's requirements. The helmet light is also compatible with the READY Kids' Helmet in every size. In other words, you can keep using the same light even when your child needs to go up a size because they've outgrown their helmet. This means the light can be used for longer.
The READY Kids' Helmet was deliberately designed without insect protection to ensure maximum ventilation. This decision was made to keep your child's head cool even in warm weather. The design also allows for the READY Helmet Light to be perfectly positioned in one of the recesses on the back of the helmet for maximum visibility.
No, we are not producing the READY Kids' Helmet in the spearmint crush colorway.
This mint green special edition is reserved exclusively for our woom GO bikes in sizes 1 to 4, available in our online shop and at select woom retailers.
The padding can easily be reattached to the Velcro. Here's how:
- Make sure both surfaces are clean. Use a small brush or a finger to clear away any dust, lint or other debris. Once any impurities are removed, you'll get the best sticking power again.
- Carefully position the padding over the Velcro so that it covers the entire surface. The more accurately it's positioned, the more you'll maximize its sticking power.
- Push the padding into place, using a finger to firmly and evenly press the padding onto the Velcro so that it makes a tight seal.
- Check your handiwork by gently pulling the padding in different spots to see how well its bonded. If it feels loose in any sections, lift it slightly before pressing down firmly with even pressure.
