Vienna, 12.12.2023: For woom’s 2023 Christmas Charity Campaign, the Austrian children's bicycle manufacturer and woom investor, Bregal Unternehmerkapital and COFRA Foundation are giving back to some of the countries where woom bikes are produced, by sponsoring the SOS Children's Villages, a nonprofit organization with the goal of ensuring that no child grows up alone and unsupported, in Bangladesh, Poland, and Austria. woom’s long-standing charitable partner will receive 91 bicycles and helmets as well as a donation of 90,000 euros.
"Responsibility is one of our core values," explains woom CEO, Paul Fattinger. "This includes ensuring that our bikes last a long time and inspire as many children as possible to cycle. But it also means that we are committed to social justice and take our responsibility as a company towards society seriously. Part of this responsibility is the commitment to institutions that help children in difficult life situations, and SOS Children's Villages has been a reliable and valuable partner for woom for many years".
The donation will be used to finance school fees, purchase school bags and teaching materials, and contribute to the ongoing operation and expansion of the SOS Children’s Villages. In addition, a bicycle repair centre will be set up in Bangladesh, where SOS Children's Village employees will teach cycling lessons, run courses on the importance of physical activity, and cover the costs of external trainers and venues for other sporting activities. The woom bikes, helmets, and accessories donated will help to improve the quality of life of the children in the SOS Children's Village.
"With this campaign, we want to help ensure that children in different parts of the world have equal opportunities for a healthy and happy childhood," explains Jan-Daniel Neumann from Bregal Unternehmerkapital.
The initiative was made possible by the commitment of woom’s key investor, Bregal Unternehmerkapital.
"We are delighted by the long-standing relationship with woom," says Sylvia Karl from SOS Children's Villages. "This donation will make a significant contribution to sustainably improving the lives of children in SOS Children's Villages in Bangladesh, Poland, and Austria. The shared vision of woom and SOS Children's Villages to provide children with a positive and loving future will be further strengthened by this valuable initiative. We would like to thank woom for this outstanding contribution."

About woom
woom is an international manufacturer of bikes for children and teenagers with its headquarters in Klosterneuburg, just outside of Vienna. The Austria-based company was founded in 2013 by two bike-loving fathers, Christian Bezdeka and Marcus Ihlenfeld, in a garage in Vienna. After searching the market in vain for suitable bikes for their own children, they decided to develop and build their own. Focusing on a low weight, timeless designs, high-quality components and child-specific geometry, woom bikes are setting new standards for premium children's bikes. In just a few years, woom went from a little-known brand to the market leader in Austria. Today, woom is known across the world. In more than 30 countries – including the USA – you'll see kids and teens riding woom bikes.
