Welcome to Vienna – woom opens new headquarters on Muthgasse

2/28/2024

Vienna, 29/02/2024: woom, the international manufacturer of bikes for children and teenagers, has moved into its new headquarters on Muthgasse in Vienna's 19th district. The company has returned to the city where the woom success story started in a garage over a decade ago.

woom moved into its new headquarters on Muthgasse in Vienna's Döbling district at the end of February. The bike company's new home is an inspiring place where around 160 woomsters can get creative and work together to bring about innovation. The color scheme and layout of the new office space reflect the company's values of joy, responsibility and courage. Bright, bold bursts of red, yellow, blue and green capture the joyful and dynamic spirit of the brand. The office has a light and open design, with flexible furniture, department zones and a hot desking policy to encourage collaboration across teams. It ticks all the boxes for sustainability, with steps having been taken to make the space environmentally friendly and accessible. Dogs are welcome there too! It goes without saying that the office is set up so employees can easily cycle to work.

Vienna welcomes woom to the city

Executive City Councilor for Finance and Business, Peter Hanke, knows how important it is for Vienna's standing as a business location to have international businesses creating and developing new products and services in the city.

"I'm delighted that woom has moved back to Vienna. This decision just goes to show that Vienna is able to offer innovative businesses and founders the conditions they need for economic success – from the sustainable infrastructure to the pool of skilled workers. With businesses like woom encouraging people to make sustainability part of their lifestyle here in the city, we'll move closer to achieving our net-zero target and evolve as a business location," says Executive City Councilor for Finance and Business, Peter Hanke.

Gerhard Hirczi, Head of the Vienna Business Agency, visited the international manufacturer of bikes for children and teenagers to mark the opening of the new headquarters. "As the city's business agency, we offer support in the form of funding programs and other initiatives to attract a diverse range of businesses to Vienna, from local businesses to medium-sized enterprises, from innovative start-ups to established tech giants. The fact that the Vienna Business Agency supported woom in moving its headquarters to Vienna just goes to show how important it is to have the right measures in place to ensure the city evolves as a business location."

Back to the company's roots

The move to Vienna sees woom returning to the place where its success story started in a garage over a decade ago. This is the city where two bike-loving fathers – industrial designer Christian Bezdeka and marketing specialist Marcus Ihlenfeld – were trying to find the perfect bike for their own children. Having had no luck, they decided to take matters into their own hands and design a bike themselves. With their low weight, timeless design, high-quality components and child-specific geometry, woom bikes set new standards for premium children's bikes. In just a few years, woom went from little-known brand to market leader. Since then, woom has made a name for itself around the world. Children and teenagers are riding about on woom bikes in over 30 countries now – including the USA. In 2022, woom broke its own previous annual sales record by taking over €100 million. The move to the new headquarters on Muthgasse is an important milestone for woom.

The new woom office and innovation hub

"woom has well and truly grown out of the start-up phase. Our new headquarters reflects the brand's international positioning and is so much more than just a place where people go to work. It's a space where our brand can live and breathe. A space where the focus is on interaction, discussion and inspiration. This is where we'll be moving forward with our mission to encourage millions of children to love to ride their bike," says woom CEO Paul Fattinger.

Facts about the new woom office:

  • 155 workstations
  • Approx. 3000 m2 of office space across four floors
