New! Say hello to the only self-balancing toddler bike, the woom WOW

WOW moments for tiny tots: woom launches first balance bike for babies!

10/7/2025

Vienna, 10/07/2025: woom, the international manufacturer of premium children's bikes, has launched an exciting innovation with the wow factor. The woom WOW is the only self-balancing bike for babies and toddlers aged 9 months and up. Made in Europe, it unlocks adventures on two wheels for tiny tots, ranging from babies who are still learning to take their first wobbly steps to confident preschoolers zooming here, there and everywhere.

woom, a company committed to producing premium bikes for kids and teens, is launching a genuine innovation aimed at babies and toddlers with the woom WOW – the only self-balancing bike on the market. "We've made the woom WOW for the littlest riders out there, so they can have fun moving around while staying safe. This is us redefining mobility for children aged 9 to 36 months. The technical sophistication and child-specific design reflect the passion for innovation that has been at the heart of woom since day one," says woom CEO Bernd Hake.

Wobble, wobble – a world to discover
The key feature of the woom WOW is the way the bike rights itself as it wobbles gently from side to side, allowing babies and toddlers to practice their balance and develop their motor skills before they can even walk. Kids learn to keep their balance intuitively, shifting their weight as they have fun and growing in confidence with every ride. Little ones are practicing their skills with every wobble – without even realizing it. Movement is made fun, with babies and toddlers becoming more confident in themselves and having the best time on two wheels before they've even taken their first steps.

"Working with children during development, we noticed that they move intuitively. We learned from the kids themselves and drew on valuable input from pediatricians and developmental psychologists so we could match the woom WOW precisely to the needs of babies and toddlers," says product designer Daniel Kloboucnik, explaining the development process behind the woom WOW.

The woom WOW helps children to move and learn, training a whole host of skills and supporting their early development on so many levels. Dr. Katja Schmidhofer, a pediatrician and general medical specialist at Klinikum Klagenfurt, confirms just how important this approach is: "The woom WOW is so special because it has been carefully designed to help children achieve early development milestones from the age of 9 months in a way that is fun and boosts confidence. The design might look simple at first glance, but take a closer look to see all the child-specific details and understand just how much careful consideration and in-depth expertise has gone into creating this self-balancing bike."

Stability and convenience

The self-centering steering provides stability while children are just starting out. And what about when they've wobbled enough for one day? Parents can just turn the handlebars so they're parallel with the frame and pop the woom WOW away or carry it with ease. Given that they're bound to end up carrying the bike as much as their kids ride it, this thoughtful design feature makes family life that bit easier.

A WOW experience
The fun starts with the unboxing. There's a real WOW moment for the kids and grown-ups in the room when the woom WOW rolls out of the box all by itself. Fully assembled and ready to go. And don't forget Buddy – the soft toy made for playing, cuddling and learning – and a beautifully illustrated booklet filled with fun ideas and inspiration for little adventures.

Child-specific design
The woom WOW is designed for little riders down to the last detail. "The low frame and long saddle ensure an ergonomic sitting position. The rounded design without sharp edges and the flat, oversized handlebar ends prevent injuries when little ones take a tumble. And the silent tires glide across the ground without leaving a trace. The ends of the handlebars are soft and colorful too, so the overall design ticks all the boxes for functionality, safety and appearance," says product designer Daniel Kloboucnik.

The woom WOW comes in three colors: pop peach, soft sprout and dreamy sky. Plus, parents can buy a set of brilliantly bright caps for the tires, saddle and handlebar ends in five fabulous colors – plum purple, lime green, mango orange, raspberry pink and blueberry blue – to make their child's bike their own.

Made in Europe
The stylish premium design of the woom WOW is brought to life with sustainable materials and responsible production processes based in Europe. It's made in Portugal using up to 98% recycled composite materials that are all non-toxic and has a lightweight aluminum frame and lots of clever details. Full bike repairs are possible – without any adhesive or permanent joins involved – and recycling is straightforward thanks to the mono-materials that can be separated and sorted.

"Falling is not failing – that's the motto of the woom WOW, which encourages babies and toddlers to start exploring the world around them on two wheels with curiosity and confidence. Through our innovative, self-balancing technology, we've been able to create a balance bike that actively helps little kids learn how to ride and takes safety, fun and design to a whole new level," says woom CEO Bernd Hake.

The woom WOW is available to buy now from the woom online shop and through retailers.

Enjoy the ride!

About woom
woom is an international manufacturer of bikes for children and teenagers with its headquarters in Vienna, Austria. The company was founded in 2013 by two bike-loving dads, Christian Bezdeka and Marcus Ihlenfeld, in a garage in Vienna. After searching the market in vain for suitable bikes for their own children, they decided to develop and build their own. With their light weight, timeless design, high-quality components and child-specific geometry, woom bikes set new standards for premium children's bikes. In just a few years, woom went from a little-known brand to the market leader in Austria. Since then, woom has made a name for itself around the world. In more than 40 countries – including the USA – you'll now find kids and teens riding woom bikes.
