Level UP Your Ride
by Charlie LaNoue
All thriller, no filler — the superlight, electric blue woom UP drops into all sorts of terrain for an elevated experience that gives kids a reason to spend all day outdoors. Once your child starts riding, they’ll never want to quit putting the pedal to the metal with the extra energy they can add to their adventures with the magic of an e-bike.
Whether you’re looking to cut out the car on short family trips through the neighborhood, explore more intense trails, or reach that summit that previously seemed unreachable—the woom UP provides the ride of a lifetime.
You may be wondering what makes a child-friendly e-bike and what goes into its complex drive system. Let’s take a closer at what makes it so unique.
The Drive System
The newly updated woom UP is equipped with the innovative Ride 50 Trail drive system from FAZUA, known for its lean, lightweight motor design and battery integration. The Ride 50 Trail was designed specifically for off-road riding, and the combined motor/battery unit weighs just 7.2 lbs. This helps keep the whole bike superlight and child-friendly —giving your kiddo exceptional handling and promoting confidence-inspiring abilities.
Children have a much lower pedaling power output than adults, which means a standard “adult” e-bike motor could be overpowering. The high-quality FAZUA motor shows its true (and beautiful!) colors here, thanks to its torque and cadence sensors. Impeccably engineered, the motor delivers consistent power on climbs in the face of headwinds and delivers pedaling assistance without any sudden lurches or interruptions. All of this makes for a natural-feeling, stress-free ride.
For safety reasons, the pedal-assist switches off at speeds above 15.5 miles per hour. The bike relies on human power alone to ride any quicker than this—strong leg muscles help here!
The motor and battery assembly can easily be removed when it’s time to recharge. Recharge the battery by plugging the charging cable into the battery and then connecting it to a power source—it’s that simple! Once you pop the battery back in, the woom UP has an average range of 30 to 50 miles and can average ~5,000’ of elevation gain per charge. That’s almost a vertical mile of climbing! Note: this figure fluctuates depending on several factors, like your child’s weight, choice of pedal-assist mode, and route profile.
No one wants a clunky e-bike with an oversized downtube. Kids care about their bike’s appearance and style matters. The compact motor and battery assembly are subtly integrated into the downtube without interfering with the woom UP’s sleek and sophisticated frame profile. Of course, the bike wouldn’t be complete without the distinctive woom branding featured on the downtube.
Up the fun factor even more with the free FAZUA Rider app, which gives your child the flexibility to fine-tune the power modes, monitors the motor’s data (power output, remaining range, etc.), and records all the stats during a ride, including distance, speed, and elevation.

How Does Torque Transfer to Pavement?
The 300-watt motor switches on with the touch of a button on the top tube. It’s powered by a 250Wh battery and only provides pedal assistance when your child is pedaling, meaning no “power on demand” like a throttle or gas pedal.
The motor provides three modes of assistance with stylish LEDs on the top tube that display the current mode, ranging from off (white), low “Breeze” (green), medium “River” (blue), and max “Rocket” (pink). It’s super intuitive and easy to operate for kids.
The battery life is also displayed through the LEDs on the top tube—the more they’re illuminated, the more battery life remains. Given such a clear display, your child will always be able to check their current assistance mode and the state of the battery.
Designed for the Trail Ahead
The woom UP’s design centers on your child’s ride experience, taking its design and performance cues from the woom OFF and the woom OFF AIR mountain bikes. The geometry, components, and overall build have been developed to prioritize ergonomics, anatomical appropriateness, and off-road capabilities. With its latest release, the woom UP now comes tubeless-compatible and dropper seatpost-ready, taking the adventure opportunities to the next level.
On all bikes, weight is a key consideration, but this is especially the case on a child’s e-bike. Our goal was to create a bike that’s as light as possible and handles smoothly so that your child can maneuver it safely and confidently across a variety of terrain. A heavy bike would simply be hard work and no fun. The woom UP 5 weighs in at a lean 35.3 pounds, while the woom UP 6 is a trim 37 pounds.
With a low center of gravity, long wheelbase, and a slack head angle, the frame’s geometry provides the ideal balance between stability and agility. Thanks to the flip-flop stem, the handlebar height can be adjusted according to your growing child’s needs.
