We saw other kids’ bike companies feature only one brake lever (a dangerous potential point of failure), and we made sure all of our pedal bikes feature two different hand brakes and two brake levers for maximum safety and to prepare kids for adult bikes. Then we saw little ones get confused about which brake is which, and we color-coded ours to make learning easy. We also noticed kids were struggling to squeeze the lever on traditional bikes, and ensured ours featured both a tension and reach adjuster.
