You can kit out the woom ORIGINAL 2 and the woom ORIGINAL 3 (AUTOMAGIC) with the following equipment:

- GLUG Stainless Steel Bottle (note: if your woom ORIGINAL 2 has mudguards, this is not compatible)

The PICKUP rack is also compatible with the woom ORIGINAL 3 (AUTOMAGIC) and can be mounted whether your bike has mudguards or not. You'll find all of these items, as well as other compatible gear, in our online shop.

Please note: The woom ORIGINAL 3 AUTOMAGIC has a special chainguard and a slightly longer chain. You can buy the specific chainguard for the woom ORIGINAL 3 AUTOMAGIC from our spare parts shop. If you need to replace the chain, please get in touch with our customer service team. All other spare parts for the woom ORIGINAL 3 are compatible with the woom ORIGINAL 3 AUTOMAGIC.

When ordering accessories, gear or spare parts, make sure you pick the correct size.

Both ORIGINAL models have threaded holes on the underside of the top tube and at the rear of the fork where the steering limiters can be attached. The side-clip mount for the GLUG Stainless Steel Bottle fits onto the two threaded holes on the underside of the down tube. (note: this can only be fitted onto the woom ORIGINAL 2 if your bike does not have mudguards). The two threaded holes on the underside of the chain stays are designed for the LEGGIE Kickstand. To install the SNAP Click-On Mudguards there are mounts on the underside of the fork crown and on the seat stays/seat tube area as well as on the axle nuts. In addition, there are a total of four threaded holes on the seat stays, designed for mounting the PICKUP rack: two near the seat tube and two near the rear wheel axle.

No. The automatic hub gearing functions without a trigger shifter or gear cables, meaning no adjustments are required.

The sealed hub design means that the gearing is tucked away safely and protected against rain, snow, dirt and any external forces. The transmission parts have special permanent lubrication, so no routine lubrication is required. In fact, when used in regular conditions, the gearing will require zero maintenance.

There's little risk of dropping the chain whilst shifting thanks to the internal transmission. With just one external gear (running on the single front chainring and one rear sprocket), there's a consistent chainline and optimal chain tension at all times. This also increases the life of the chain, chainring and sprocket, compared to an external gear system.

Even though the hub gearing has a sealed design, avoid using a jet washer to clean your bike as water could enter the hub. Generally speaking, it isn't a good idea to clean bikes with a jet washer due to the risk of water getting in the bearings.

Please note: Even though the gearing requires little to no maintenance, the same does NOT apply to the woom ORIGINAL 3 AUTOMAGIC bike as a whole. Bikes are just like any other piece of technical machinery in that they need to be serviced.

To make sure your child is safe whenever they're out cycling, take their woom bike to be checked over by a specialist at regular intervals and perform these quick safety checks yourself before they set off on any bike ride:

1. Are all the screws, bolts and clamps securely tightened?

The most important screws and clamps are found on the handlebar stem, on the wheels (either a quick-release or requiring a hex key), and on the seat post (with a clamp or quick-release lever).

2. Are the front and rear brakes working well?

You can test this by spinning the wheels and giving a few practice pulls on the brake levers. You will be able to determine if the brakes are able to deliver enough stopping power or spot if they are rubbing.

3. Are there any visible signs of damage to the tyres and wheels? Do the tyres have enough air?

Replace damaged tyres or wheels as soon as possible. In the meantime, your child should not ride their bike. If there isn't enough air in the inner tube, pump it up to the recommended tyre pressure. This will be noted on the sidewall of the tyres.

Inside the instruction manual for your child's woom bike, you'll find practical advice on looking after the bike, plus a list of all the recommended tightening torques for the fixtures on the bike.

In this article, we highlight the parts of your bike that need checking most regularly.

Our specially developed steering limiter helps your child to ride in a straight line and prevents crashes that are commonly caused by children overturning the handlebars. Our steering limiter has a progressive stop thanks to its elastic rubber O-ring. In the event that your child crashes, the handlebars won't cause an additional hurdle – the bars will turn past the limiter to lie flat on the ground, rather than getting in the way. This helps to reduce injuries. You may find that the rubber ring breaks in this scenario, which is an integral part of its design.

If it does break, it has done its job properly and can easily be replaced through our online shop.

As stabilisers, or training wheels, are counterintuitive when it comes to developing good balance and add extra weight to a child's bike, we have purposely decided against them. Stabilisers give your child a false sense of security and confidence in their ability – as soon as they are removed, your child has to re-learn how to stay upright and keep their balance, whilst getting to grips with the basics of cycling again. Balance bikes are therefore a much better alternative to a bike with stabilisers. By beginning with a balance bike, your child learns key skills such as keeping their balance and hand-operated braking. When the time comes for them to switch to a standard bike, they will only need to pick up pedalling, meaning that the process of learning to ride a bike is usually much quicker.

The rear brake lever and brake pads on our balance bikes (woom ORIGINAL 1 and woom ORIGINAL 1 PLUS) and smaller pedal bikes (woom ORIGINAL 2 and woom ORIGINAL 3 (AUTOMAGIC)) are green. This helps your child to identify which brake they are using. It also prevents any mix-ups between the front and rear brake on models with both brakes. The green brake lever on the right-hand side of the bars controls the rear wheel. The black lever on the left stops the front wheel.

As the woom ORIGINAL 1 only comes with one brake, there is no danger of this kind of mix-up. But we've deliberately kept the brake green to help your child get familiar with the all-important rear brake so that when they transition to the next size bike they will intuitively know which brake to use first.

It's easy to stop the rubbing noise if it occurs. On a new bike, the brake cable is still pretty tight. It will stretch by itself after applying the brakes a few times. If the brakes are too tight, you can easily loosen the tension by turning the adjustment barrel on the brake lever. This will open up the brakes. If only one brake pad is rubbing, you can adjust the spring tension on the brake caliper. In this video, our mechanic Tim explains exactly what you need to do to adjust the brakes correctly.

The left pedals on our bikes have a left-hand thread and therefore have to be screwed in an anti-clockwise direction.

To return your woom ORIGINAL, here's what you need to do:

1. Complete this form to register your return with our customer service team.

2. Pack the bike in its original packaging according to the packing instructions which you can find on the back of the return slip. Put the return slip in the box before you seal it.

3. Our customer service team will supply you with a pre-paid return shipping label via e-mail. Place this on the outside of the package. You can then drop off the package at your local GLS ParcelShop without having to worry about paying any shipping costs.

4. Please e-mail the tracking number on the proof of postage to [email protected] so we can track your returned product.

5. After receiving and checking your package, we will refund the full amount via the original payment method you used when purchasing.
