Accessibility Statement of woom GmbH
Accessibility Statement of woom GmbH
woom GmbH is committed to making its webshop (https://woom.com/) accessible in accordance with Directive (EU) 2019/882 on accessibility requirements for products and services (European Accessibility Act).
This accessibility statement applies to the webshop mentioned above.
Compliance Status
This digital application (webshop) is partially compliant with the requirements of Level AA of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.1) as well as with the European Standard EN 301 549 V3.2.1.
Full compliance is being pursued, and existing issues are being remediated step by step.
Non-accessible Content
Non-compliance with the Accessibility Requirements
The following content is currently not accessible or only partially accessible:
1.1.1 Non-text Content
Images, icons, and videos do not have sufficient alternative text or are incorrectly marked for screen readers; meaningful textual descriptions for visual symbols and video elements are missing.
1.2.1 Audio-only and Video-only (Prerecorded)
Videos lack textual descriptions or alternative equivalents and are not accessible to users who are deaf or hard of hearing.
1.2.2 Captions (Prerecorded)
Video content is provided without captions, making spoken information inaccessible.
1.2.3 Audio Description or Media Alternative (Prerecorded)
Visual information in videos is not supplemented with audio descriptions or equivalent alternative text.
1.3.1 Info and Relationships
Incorrect structure of headings, lists, and landmark regions, as well as unsuitable role attributes, hinder semantic understanding and navigation with assistive technologies.
1.4.3 Contrast (Minimum)
Text and graphical interface components have insufficient color contrast against their backgrounds, making them difficult to read.
1.4.12 Text Spacing
When text is zoomed in, content and interface elements become truncated and are not fully readable.
1.4.13 Content on Hover or Focus
Pop-ups and overlays cannot reliably be dismissed using the keyboard and may block keyboard-only users.
2.1.1 Keyboard
Key functionalities such as navigation menus, sliders, and video elements are not fully operable using the keyboard.
2.1.2 No Keyboard Trap
The video modal cannot be closed in an accessible way and traps users during keyboard navigation.
2.4.3 Focus Order
Hidden accordion content receives unexpected focus, disrupting logical navigation for keyboard users.
2.4.4 Link Purpose (In Context)
Controls within sliders and modal windows are unclear or incorrectly labelled, making the purpose of links and buttons ambiguous.
2.4.6 Headings and Labels
A main heading (H1) is missing, and semantic labelling is insufficient, impacting structure and orientation.
2.4.7 Focus Visible
Focus indicators are missing or too low in contrast, particularly for video controls and buttons.
4.1.2 Name, Role, Value
Interactive components such as sliders, buttons, and radio groups are not properly defined with name, role, and state, making them unclear to screen readers.
4.1.3 Status Messages
Dynamic messages such as error or success notifications are not automatically communicated to screen readers and therefore go unnoticed.
Content Outside the Scope of the Directive
External Payment Processing
Payment processing (e.g., credit card, PayPal, Klarna) is handled by independent payment service providers. These payment pages are outside of the technical and editorial control of woom GmbH.
According to Directive (EU) 2019/882, these providers are considered independent economic operators and are responsible for meeting accessibility requirements themselves and providing their own accessibility statements if applicable.
Preparation of this Accessibility Statement
This statement was prepared on 20 October 2025. The assessment of compliance with accessibility requirements was based on an external audit carried out by experts from MSTAGE GmbH in August 2025, following the success criteria of WCAG 2.1 (Level AA).
The homepage, product detail page, and standard content page were tested. Identified issues were documented and are being addressed as part of ongoing improvements.
woom GmbH will update this statement regularly, especially in the event of significant changes to the webshop.
