FAQ
The woom GO is a superlight all-round bike designed for children who want to have fun while learning to ride and perfecting their skills over time. It's ideal for everyday riding on tarmac and occasional outdoor adventures that might cover gravel paths and woodland tracks. The woom GO 3 AUTOMAGIC also unlocks longer routes because it comes with automatic two-speed hub gearing.
The woom GO is not suitable for MTB trails or bike parks. Please refer to the instructions for use for further information on this.
You can kit out the woom GO 2, woom GO 3 and woom GO 3 AUTOMAGIC bikes with the following equipment:
- VIENNA Bell and BING Bell
- SNAP Click-on Mudguards (pick the relevant size for your child's bike)
- LEGGIE Kickstand (size S)
- GLUG Stainless Steel Bottle (if your child's woom GO 2 has mudguards, this is not compatible)
The PICKUP Rack is also compatible with the woom GO 3 and woom GO 3 AUTOMAGIC and can be mounted whether your child's bike has mudguards or not.
You'll find all of these items and lots of other compatible accessories in our online shop.
If you need to replace any parts due to wear and tear, you'll find a wide selection of original parts in our spare parts shop, including grips, steering limiters, Schwalbe inner tubes and much more.
Please note: The woom GO 3 AUTOMAGIC has a special chainguard and a slightly longer chain. If you need to replace the chain or chainguard, please get in touch with our customer service team. All other spare parts for the woom GO 3 are compatible with the woom GO 3 AUTOMAGIC.
When ordering accessories or spare parts, make sure you pick the correct size.
On the bottom and top of the downtube there are two pairs of threaded holes so that you can install the side-clip mount for the GLUG Stainless Steel Bottle on your preferred side. The two threaded holes on the underside of the chain stays are designed for the LEGGIE Kickstand. To install the SNAP Click-On Mudguards, there are mounts on the underside of the fork crown and on the seat stays/seat tube area as well as on the axle nuts. In addition, there are a total of four threaded holes on the seat stays for mounting the PICKUP Rack: two near the seat tube and two near the rear wheel hub.
The ABC markings on the handlebars and seatpost make it easier for you to precisely adjust the woom GO 2, woom GO 3, woom GO 3 AUTOMAGIC so the bike can grow with your child.
It's super simple. Move the saddle up or down so that your child can touch both feet to the floor and pedal comfortably. Match the handlebar marking to the seatpost. That's it – your child is good to go!
No. The automatic hub gearing functions without a shifter or gear cables, meaning no adjustments are required.
The sealed hub design means that the gearing is tucked away safely and protected against rain, snow, dirt and any external forces. The transmission parts have special permanent lubrication, so no routine lubrication is required. In fact, when used in regular conditions, the gearing will require zero maintenance.
There's little risk of dropping the chain while shifting thanks to the internal transmission. With just one external gear (running on the single front chainring and one rear sprocket), there's a consistent chainline and optimal chain tension at all times. This also increases the life of the chain, chainring and sprocket, compared to an external gear system.
Even though the hub gearing has a sealed design, avoid using a jet washer to clean the bike as water could enter the hub. Generally speaking, it isn't a good idea to clean bikes with a jet washer due to the risk of water getting in the bearings.
Please note: Even though the gearing requires little to no maintenance, the same does NOT apply to the woom GO 3 AUTOMAGIC bike as a whole. Bikes are just like any other piece of technical machinery in that they need to be serviced.
To make sure your child is safe whenever they're out cycling, take their woom bike to be checked over by a specialist at regular intervals and perform these quick safety checks yourself before they set off on any bike ride:
1. Are all the screws and clamps securely tightened?
The most important fixings are found on the handlebar stem, on the wheels (hexagon socket bolts/quick-release skewers) and on the saddle (seatpost clamp/quick-release seatpost clamp).
2. Are the front and rear brakes working perfectly?
You can test this by spinning the wheels and giving a few practice pulls on the brake levers. You will be able to determine if the brakes are able to deliver enough stopping power or spot if they are rubbing.
3. Are there any visible signs of damage to the tires and wheels? Do the tires have enough air?
Replace damaged tires or wheels as soon as possible. In the meantime, your child should not ride their bike. If there isn't enough air in the inner tube, pump it up to the recommended tire pressure. This will be noted on the sidewall of the tires.
Inside the instructions for use for your child's woom bike, you'll find practical advice on looking after the bike along with a list of all the recommended tightening torques for the fixtures on the bike.
In this article, we highlight the parts of your child's bike that need checking most regularly.
Our specially developed steering limiter helps your child to ride in a straight line and prevents crashes that are commonly caused by children overturning the handlebars. The stretchy rubber ring creates gentle, flexible resistance. In the event that your child crashes, the handlebars will lie flat on the ground rather than staying upright. This helps to reduce injuries. You may find that the rubber ring breaks in this scenario, but that's an integral part of its design.
If it does break, it has done its job properly. You can easily order a new one from our online shop.
As stabilizers, or training wheels, are counterintuitive when it comes to developing good balance and add extra weight to a child's bike, we have purposely decided against them. Stabilizers give your child a false sense of security and confidence in their ability – as soon as they are removed, your child has to re-learn how to stay upright and keep their balance, while getting to grips with the basics of cycling again. Balance bikes are therefore a much better alternative to a bike with stabilizers. By beginning with a balance bike, your child learns key skills such as keeping their balance and hand-operated braking. When the time comes for them to switch to a standard bike, they will only need to pick up pedaling, meaning that the process of learning to ride a bike is usually much quicker.
The rear brake lever and brake pads on our balance bikes (woom GO 1 and woom GO 1 PLUS) and smaller pedal bikes (woom GO 2, woom GO 3 and woom GO 3 AUTOMAGIC) are green. This color code system helps your child to identify which brake they are using. It also prevents any mix-ups between the front and rear brake on models with both brakes. The green brake lever on the right-hand side of the bars controls the rear wheel. The black lever on the left stops the front wheel.
It's easy to stop the rubbing noise if it occurs.
On a new bike, the brake cable is still pretty tight. It will stretch by itself after applying the brakes a few times. If the brakes are too tight, you can easily loosen the tension by turning the adjustment barrel on the brake lever. This will open up the brakes. If only one brake pad is rubbing, you can adjust the spring tension on the brake caliper. In this video, our mechanic Tim explains exactly what you need to do to adjust the brakes correctly.
The left pedals on our bikes have a left-hand thread and therefore have to be screwed in an anti-clockwise direction.
Make sure you clean your child's bike regularly to keep it in good condition. You should also check the screws, tire pressure and brakes on a regular basis. If you notice that any parts are damaged or worn, have them repaired or replaced by a professional. You can also check that your child's woom GO is in proper working order and safe for your child to ride by asking a professional to inspect the bike at regular intervals. You can find further instructions for maintenance on individual bike components and check the recommended maintenance schedule in the instructions for use for the woom GO.
We have a number of useful bike fit and maintenance videos on our website that guide you through the process of adjusting your child's woom bike and handling simple maintenance tasks yourself.
We recommend that you run through a quick safety check before every ride to make sure that everything is working as it should be. Just remember...
screws, brakes, air!
1. Are all the screws and quick-releases done up tightly?
2. Are the brakes working perfectly?
3. Are the tires well pumped up? Is there any sign of damage to the rubber?
You should also make sure that your child is wearing a bike helmet that fits them properly.
You can find further safety information in the instructions for use for your child's woom GO 2, woom GO 3 or woom GO 3 AUTOMAGIC.
This is a GoPro mount. Adventurous riders can attach a GoPro camera to their bike so they can capture all the action going on behind them during their rides. Your GoPro camera should have come with the adapter you need to attach it to the mount. You don't need to buy any special equipment separately. If you can't find the adapter, you can buy a new one online or from a specialist shop.
