Diagram of a child's head being measured with a tape measure

How do I know which helmet size my child needs?

You need to measure the circumference of your child's head to figure out which helmet size to buy. Holding a tape measure against your child's forehead, about 1 cm above their eyebrows and ears, measure all the way around their head. Check the positioning of the tape measure at the back of their head to ensure you're measuring the widest part.

Check your measurement against our sizes. If the circumference of your child's head is 48 cm, you'll need to go for XS (46–50 cm) and so on.

How do I make sure the helmet is sitting correctly?

If the helmet is too tight when your child puts it on, start by turning the size-adjustment dial to loosen off the adjustment system on the inside. Make sure the helmet is sitting level and covering your child's head properly. The front edge of the helmet should sit around 1 cm above the bridge of your child's nose. Turn the size-adjustment dial to tighten the ring on the inside until you're happy that the helmet is sitting nice and snugly. It shouldn't wobble when your child gently shakes their head. Finish off by fastening the chin strap clasp. Speaking of which... Before your child wears the helmet for the first time, adjust the length of the chin strap so that the helmet sits snugly but still feels comfortable.

Love it!

The woom helmet is my 3rd helmet purchase for my 5 year old granddaughter for past two years. She loves the purple colored light weighted helmet with adjustable strap and especially the magnetic catch and ready helmet light.

worth it

kids are stoked on the helmets. magnetic clip means no skin pinches and the ear loops are fixed so we don’t have to constantly fiddle with loose straps that result in cattywampus fit. helmets have excellent coverage and are very light - especially considering how big the are - children appear a bit cartoonish given the size/coverage of the helmet but its overall cute and for sure worth it for the added safety. quite the price tag for kids gear, but they wear them almost every day and these products resell easily. def worth it, lucky enough to be able to score purpose made gear and the ease of use means the kids have less barriers to going for a ride. little blinky light is nice too, helps to keep track of the little heathens when they threaten to disappear over the horizon.

Great helmet but padding falls out

The padding inside the helmet is attached with velcro. It falls out every time my 5 year old and 3 year old wear their helmets. We are constantly finding them around the bikes. If you do not replace the pads, their hair gets stuck to the velcro adhered to the inside of the helmet - especially terrible for my 5 year old with long fine hair.

Sizing is way off

I purchased a size medium for my 7 1/2 year old. I measured her head carefully according to the instructions on the website. The medium should fit according to the Woom size chart. It is comically big. Woom also sigh if you are in between two sizes to size up. She was well within the size of a medium. It doesn’t come with adjustable pads and the pads provided do seem rather thin. I like the quality, the latch seems like a nice design and it is very light weight, also a plus. The helmet took a long time to arrive and was delayed several times, not sure why. I might try ordering the next size down on Amazon for easier shipping/returns.

Lightweight, Game-Changing Design

My 3-year-old son loves his woom READY helmet almost as much as I do. He can buckle or unbuckle it easily by himself, and we love the integrated light that fits in the rear (perfect for rides at dusk). It's lightweight, easy to adjust, and I like the matte color on the pale grey version. I like that he can wear it not only when he's riding his woom 1 (soon to be woom GO 2!), but also when he rides as a passenger on my e-bike or bike trailer. And he can wear it if/when he learns to ride a scooter as well. Overall, you can tell this one was designed with care!

Cute & Easy

So happy we found this helmet for our kids. Super easy to tighten so that it's the right fit. My almost 4-year-old loves that she can put it on herself.

Happy with Quality, Miss the Classic

We're a long time woom family and had three of the classic helmets from the beginning. We recently bought four of the new helmets. I like the safety, ease, and comfort updates. I really miss the look of the classic and I find the winking smiley face on the adjustment knob to be a little creepy. I might put stickers over them. My three sons all miss the style of the classic helmet too, and the four year old still chooses his old helmet. They haven't noticed the winking smiley face. My two year, a daughter, hasn't ever had a woom helmet and is very happy with the Ready. We *almost* needed the (no longer there) bug net last week, but the wasp recovered and flew away. To the best of my knowledge, of all of our riding, this is only the second time a stinging insect flew into the vent. The first time, we were going a lot faster and the bug net on the classic actually did save him from contact and a possible sting. We used to ride a lot as I used to commute with a bullit bakfiets with a custom triple box. That was back when I only had three children. Now there are six and my nerves can't handle training the kids to commute next to cars. (In case anyone is wondering, the oldest child sized out of the classic and everyone passed down a helmet. That's how the four year old got his. {GBB to G(BBBG)B} )

Perfect simplicity

The helmet just fits — and is SO easy to adjust. The magnetic buckle is brilliantly simple. No annoying tangle of straps that inevitably annoy around the ears of little ones. Sensible styling and the “woom” logo-ing on the other black helmet we purchased is subdued enough to please an 8 year-old!

Great helmet, poor padding.

The helmet seems great. The pads don’t stick to the velcro at all.

The Best

I can’t say enough good things about this helmet. It fits so well and covers so much better than what we’ve had before. The adjustments are so simple. Also, two of my kids are girls and often have their hair up in different ways. I’m able to adjust their helmets without having to take their hair down or compromise the fit of the helmet. I bought 3 of these helmets but am going to buy a fourth for my oldest son as well. I didn’t think he needed one, but after getting these helmets I think It’s worth upgrading his as well. I just wish I’d bought him one earlier with the others to take advantage of the discount when i was buying a bike at the same time.
