woom continues on profitable growth path in first half of 2026

- Turnover increased by 19% to EUR 107 million in the first half of the year
- Successful turnaround with a sustainable return to profitability
- Business momentum driven by internationalisation, innovation and market leadership
Vienna, 21 July 2026: woom, the global manufacturer of bikes for kids and teens, takes the momentum from its record-breaking success in 2025 straight into the first half of 2026. Turning over EUR 107 million over the six months, the scale-up has recorded a sales increase of 19% compared to the company's previous record for a half-year period. And woom has also reached an important strategic milestone, achieving a clear positive result and a sustainable return to profitability in the face of challenging market conditions.
"This achievement is the result of our team's hard work and commitment. Our return to profitability just goes to show that you can maintain financial discipline and still put your all into designing the best bikes for children and teenagers," says Bernd Hake, CEO of woom. "The reasons for our success are simple – we focus on the most relevant markets, develop innovations that prioritise the needs of children above all else, and reinforce the unique strengths of our brand. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the entire woom team. They work hard every day to help us share the joy of riding a bike with the next generation and position bikes as a dependable feature of everyday life – through childhood and beyond."
Growth driven by innovation and internationalisation
woom pressed ahead with its innovation strategy again in the first half of 2026. Successful product launches, more new colours and an inspiring global brand campaign kept international demand high. Looking back at the first six months of the year, woom sold just under 300,000 bikes in total and more than 100,000 helmets. The helmet and bike segments are both proving to be equally dynamic, with a 17% increase in helmet sales.
One major milestone was the creation of a new product category with the woom WOW as a ride-on toy for toddlers aged nine months and up. By making this strategic move into the toy market, woom has extended its portfolio beyond the traditional bike segment and served more than 19,000 customers there already.
Recent glowing reviews speak to the fact that pioneering design and premium quality come as standard at woom, with the brand winning prestigious design awards in the first half of 2026, including the iF Design Award and the Red Dot Design Award. Independent product tests also confirm the commitment to exceptional quality and the diligent development of products for children. Both the woom GO and the woom EXPLORE came out on top in tests conducted by Stiftung Warentest (German independent consumer organisation), ADAC (German automobile association) and ÖAMTC (Austrian automobile, motorcycle and touring association) in 2026.
Global expansion with significant growth in core and new target markets
woom has upped its momentum again at the international level too. By entering the UK market directly and launching operations there, the company has secured its presence in one of the most attractive bike markets in Europe. This has already been reflected in the rapid 157% increase in turnover in the UK. Strong growth has been recorded in the Benelux region (+72%) and the Nordic countries (+62%) too. woom has also increased its share in the established core markets of Germany, Austria and Switzerland (+15%) and the USA (+18%) and consolidated its competitive standing globally.
Future focus on ongoing innovation and continued strategic growth
The management team is expecting the positive operational developments to continue into the second half of 2026. A new e-bike model and an innovative helmet are going to be added to the product portfolio soon. The company is also preparing for a product launch in the first quarter of 2027 that's highly relevant from a strategic point of view, with plans to enter other key international markets too.
"We're on a mission to make families' lives a bit better every day through our innovative products. We have our roadmap for new innovations, and we're gradually building on our global presence. We've laid the foundations to continue on this successful and profitable path into the future," says Bernd Hake.

About woom
woom is an international manufacturer of bikes for children and teenagers with its headquarters in Vienna, Austria. The company was founded in 2013 by two bike-loving dads, Christian Bezdeka and Marcus Ihlenfeld, in a garage in Vienna. After searching the market in vain for suitable bikes for their own children, they decided to develop and build their own. With their light weight, timeless design, high-quality components and child-specific geometry, woom bikes set new standards for premium children's bikes. In just a few years, woom went from a little-known brand to the market leader in Austria. Since then, woom has made a name for itself around the world. In more than 40 countries – including the USA, the Middle East and China – you'll now find kids and teens riding woom bikes.
