Quality in a class of its own: woom is standout winner in consumer tests

10/06/2026

Vienna, 10 June 2026: woom, the international manufacturer of bikes for kids and teens, is raising the bar in the industry once again. Two woom bikes have come out on top in independent consumer tests (conducted by Stiftung Warentest, ADAC and ÖAMTC). And woom bikes have received multiple prestigious international design awards too. These results send out a clear message at a time when the market is being flooded with more and more imitation products – quality, safety and genuinely child-specific design cannot be copied.

Two bikes, three wins – a detailed look at the test results

  • woom GO 2: Stiftung Warentest winner
In this year's children's bike test conducted by Stiftung Warentest (German consumer testing organisation), the woom GO 2 was up against ten other models with 14″ wheels and ultimately came out on top with an overall score of 'Good' (1.6). The bike achieved its most impressive score in the safety and durability categories ('Excellent', 1.3). Weighing in at just 5.4 kg, the woom GO 2 was also one of the lightest bikes being tested, giving it a clear advantage when it comes to riding and handling.
  • woom EXPLORE 5: Best children's bike for ADAC and ÖAMTC
woom also took the top spot in the latest comparison conducted by ADAC (German automobile association) and ÖAMTC (Austrian automobile, motorcycle and touring association). The woom EXPLORE 5 secured first place with its overall score of 2.0. The testers were most impressed by the high-quality disc brakes with their exceptional braking performance as well as the ease with which the saddle height and stem can be ergonomically adjusted. What's more, the woom EXPLORE 5 was the only children's bike being tested that can be classified as completely non-toxic.

"These test results reflect our unwavering commitment to quality, safety and child-specific design, showing once again how hard our team works," says Bernd Hake, woom CEO. "While other companies seem to be trying to take shortcuts, we're staying true to our values and aiming to create the best bikes in the world with a focus on quality over quantity. Our products genuinely make children's lives better, keeping them safe and giving them a lasting feeling of confidence and real freedom."

Cutting-edge design
woom is sweeping up international design awards alongside its winning test results. The woom WOW, the first self-balancing bike for toddlers aged nine months and up, recently received the iF Design Award and the Red Dot Design Award. The woom POP Kids' Bike Basket has also been given an iF Design Award and the Red Dot Design Award (back in 2024).

Innovation as a long-term quality strategy
The woom innovation team of around 20 people is behind this success. With Chris Small leading the team, every product is meticulously designed to respond to children's requirements, from the shape of the frame down to the tiniest component.

"Seeing the world through a child's eyes from the beginning is the key to genuinely designing products for children," says Chris Small, Vice President Innovation at woom. "When we're working on a product, every single detail is added with the aim of making riding a bike safer, simpler and more fun for kids. That takes a lot of time and, more crucially, a lot of expertise. The fact that we're inspiring our competitors with our products just demonstrates our market-leading position."

With imitation products appearing fast and serious price pressure being felt across the board, these achievements reinforce the strong position woom is in. The business continues to invest in the depth of its development as well as safety and design quality and, in the process, keeps redefining the standards for premium children's bikes.

About woom
woom is an international manufacturer of bikes for children and teenagers with its headquarters in Vienna, Austria. The company was founded in 2013 by two bike-loving dads, Christian Bezdeka and Marcus Ihlenfeld, in a garage in Vienna. After searching the market in vain for suitable bikes for their own children, they decided to develop and build their own. With their light weight, timeless design, high-quality components and child-specific geometry, woom bikes set new standards for premium children's bikes. In just a few years, woom went from a little-known brand to the market leader in Austria. Since then, woom has made a name for itself around the world. In more than 40 countries – including the USA, the Middle East and China – you'll now find kids and teens riding woom bikes.
